ABOUT SAIRA
Saira began her yogic journey at the Chula Vista Yoga Center in the beginning of 2011, where she completed her RYT-200 certified teacher training program. In search of a new perspective and learning about self-love, she decided to participate in a 30-day consecutive yoga challenge. During this time a shift of energy within her mind, body and soul, created a sense of fulfillment which she attributes to a life-changing experience. As her yoga practice evolved, it was clear that yoga was her life-long path. Inspired by her teachers, Saira’s teaching is to share the importance of each individual's personal practice that aligns with oneself and brings joy. She continues to strive within her personal journey while she applies all the teachings of yoga to everyday life; the teacher will always be the student.
M: During the pandemic I learned the importance of staying connected to the spiritual community (sangha). I felt a responsibility to safely keep community connection alive through the use of technology and outdoor gatherings. We don’t need to walk the path alone.
S: One thing I learned during the pandemic is how to be more productive with my time.

Reflecting back on 2020 - What are some challenges you had to overcome and what was the impact from those challenges?
M: 2020 challenged my mental health. I struggled to overcome the fear-based narratives being fed to the collective. As a result, I was inspired to reclaim my power through meditation, grow my faith in higher consciousness, improve my immunity, and my spiritual path. It was also challenging to see how much the collective was struggling due to no longer having wellness spaces open, this inspired me to offer outdoor gatherings for the community, which have become a significant part of my journey. The impact of 2020 has personally been a great blessing.
S: In 2020 my challenge was allowing myself to slow down. I've overcome that challenge by learning to prioritize what I really want to be doing and creating healthy boundaries to feel more in balance.
